Balanced Design Inc. was founded in 2017, providing design and drafting services to the construction industry in Simcoe County and Muskoka, primarily directed at the architectural design and structural engineering sectors for residential and small buildings. With over 20 years experience in design and construction, we possess a very strong technical background and provide creative and buildable designs, with detailed drawing packages.

Balanced Design Inc. is owned and operated by James Worrall & Ryan Cranstoun.  Both are graduates of the Architectural Technology program at Fanshawe College in London, class of 2005. James & Ryan have gained a wide variety of experience throughout their careers and have been involved in both the design and construction of various residential, industrial, commercial and institutional projects. We launched BD to provide high-end design and drafting services with a focus on passion, quality and a work-life balance.

​James thrives on creativity and has a passion for design and construction.  This passion started at a young age while visiting construction sites with his father and working alongside his brothers on various odd jobs around the house. 

This early hands-on experience has stuck with James throughout his career, and given him an appreciation for the people working on site which he is always mindful of when designing or preparing construction drawings. 

Always a perfectionist, James enjoys working closely with his clients to ensure all their ideas have been incorporated and their wants and needs have been addressed.  He has an eye for detail and a knack for thinking outside the box to provide practical, economical or more efficient solutions whenever possible.

In his spare time you'll find James enjoying the outdoors with his family, traveling, playing hockey, golf, tennis or cycling and keeping his creative juices flowing in the kitchen, brewing beer or woodworking.

Ryan enjoys bringing the thoughts and ideas of his customers into reality. With his experience in both the design and construction industries, Ryan offers practical solutions in every project he is involved in, be it big or small.

Ryan has worked in a variety of roles in the design and construction industry over his career. With experience in a variety of markets across Canada, Ryan has been exposed to many different construction styles and techniques which he can incorporate into your project to ensure the design intent is met.

When not in the office, Ryan enjoys spending time outdoors at the cottage with his family.
